A year ago, I bought an ASUS G75VW-T1066V laptop with an Intel Core i7-3610QM processor.
I recently installed the Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.6 because I was curious how Turbo Boost works.
But under no workload, and I tested many different kinds, never ever did the Turbo Boost Technology Monitor indicate anything other than either the green dot or 2,30MHz.
The Intel specifications (http://ark.intel.com/products/64899/Intel-Core-i7-3610QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_30-GHz ) say that this processor has a "Clock Speed of 2.3 GHz" and a "Max Turbo Frequency of 3.3 GHz" and "Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0".
The Intel Processor Identification Utility also claims that this processor supports the "Enhanced Intel SpeedStep(R) Technology: Yes", which I take as meaning "Turbo Boost Technology: Yes".
CPU-Z and Speccy from Piriform are silent about the presence or absence of Turbo Boost.
I have searched on the Internet:
- some say that Turbo Boost must be activated in the Bios; but nowhere in the Bios do I find any parameter that could concern Turbo Boost
- others say that Turbo Boost is used only when the operating system (W7-64) requests execution in a "higher performance state (PO)"; but in "Power settings" I did request the highest performance.
My questions: do I have a faulty i7-3610QM processor?
Or do I have to activate something so that Turbo Boost becomes operational?
