I just recently purchased an Acer s242hl monitor and despite searching for hours and installing the most recent bios and graphics driver I am unable to get my video adapter to allow access to any widescreen aspect ratios 16:9.
The monitor's max res is 1920x1080
This is my current information...
Using VGA mode
Computer: Dell E310 ( yes I know it is an old dog )
OS: Windows 7
Chipset: Intel 915GV
Graphics Engine: 950 GMA
Current Video Driver: 6.14.10.4764 (1/13/2007)
Dell BIOS: A04
Monitor Driver: Acer ver 1.0.0.0 (7/12/2010 for Win7)
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver Tool recognizes monitor and displays multiple supported 16:9 resolutions including 1920x1080, but under screen resolution the highest available option is 1400x1050 which is 4:3
To my knowledge the intel driver listed above is the latest support driver for that chipset. I have read an article on the developers forum which mention that Dell may be blocking some resolutions in the BIOS ( don't know if this would be factual or not).
Is it possible that either a) there may be a driver available thru intel to fix this or b) some registry settings can be tweaked to allow widescreen res for this driver.
Could someone possibly point me in the right direction, would prefer not to have to purchase a new PCI card and disable the on board graphics adapter.
Thanks.
