Question about FPO and ATPO numbers

Hi Guys. according to below link, LGA-1150 based processors have their FPO(batch no.) and ATPO numbers on the 5th and 6th line respectively.

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/processors/000005609.html

I've read that the FPO number is not unique. Sorry if this question is stupid for you but... Can there be more than 1 processors with the same FPO numbers?

From my understanding... The serial number is the only unique digits of the processor. So it's a must that the last 4 digits of the serial number indicated on the box is the same as the one on the lower right side of the PCB of the processor.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Need some clarifications on this guys. Your reply would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

PROBLEMI AGGIORNAMENTO USB driver e il driver Chipset

Buonasera,

Resto in attesa.

grazie,

NUC6i5SYH + Samsung 950 pro 512 GB maximum read - write speed?

Hi,

Not that I am really dissatisfied with the speed of above mentioned combination as it is faster than anything else in my office, I still have a question about this.

AFAIK the NUC Skylake series has a PCIe 3.0, 4x M.2 interface. The Samsung 950 pro drive should be able to use that interface to the max, resulting in a sequential read speed of around 2500 MB/s, and a sequential write speed of around 1500 MB/s. I have seen this drive do this on an Asus H170 motherboard.

On my NUC Samsung Magician reports 1706 MB/s read and1558 MB/s write. So the expected write speed is met, but the read speed lags behind. It does not look like a temperature throttling issue, as the measurement is taken right after a cold boot. Another performance measurement tool like CrystalDiskMark gets numbers in the same area.

Is there anyone who could shed some light on this? And is anybody getting the maximum speed out of this (or a like) combination?

The setup I use:

- NUC6i5SYH

- Samsung 950 Pro 512 GB attached to the M.2 interface

- 16 GB Kingston HyperX 2133

- 500GB Crucial MX200 attached to the SATA interface

- BIOS 0033

- Windows 10 Pro, booting from the 950

- Latest updates / drivers installed, the driver for the 950 is downloaded from Samsung

- Over provisioning enabled on the 950 for the full suggested 47GB (10%)

Intel Compute Stick (BOXSTCK1A32WFC) : trouble after win10 installation

hello,

meeting troubles during upgrade of win 8.1 to win 10 on my intel compute stick in an old bios version, i updated bios in v0031 and upgraded sucessfully to win10 until reaching the desktop. It works 5-10 seconds properly until the mouse pointer turn and remains in waiting state. no actions are possible. I need to shutdown.

Any solutions to fix this ?

What is the correct CPU fan setting in BIOS?

My core i5 skylake nuc's fan is constantly running at ~3000 rpm even when I am not using the PC causing a constant noise. It is getting annoying. In BIOS, the CPU fan is set at "balanced". Should I change that to "quiet" or something else? Any help is appreciated.

Skylake hard locks seeminly when IDLE / CStates ON

Myself and others have been struggling with a different hard lock problem with Skylake and we have ran out of options but to assume it is a CPU fault/issue.  Does anyone have any comments or feedback?

The long thread is over here, but I will summarise.  New Skylake Build Randomly Freezing/Crashing - Page 7 - windows 10 - Windows 10

Our systems hard lock randomly but appears on the most part to be when IDLE or next to IDLE.  The hardlock can come when playing video, browsing (reading) or mostly when not interacting at all.   Some (like myself) noted that they seem to occur more often if you are doing a large amount of disk IO (partition move for example or copying 40+ GB of data disk to disk).

Hard locks happen in either Windows (7,8,10) or Linux.

With CStates on, the crashes are often and usually within 10 minutes of IDLE.  With CStates disabled completely most find that the system remains "mainly" stable for days.  Generally, no one has reported locks when gaming or under high CPU load (so I do not think this is the Prime95 example but then, since compilers / drivers use the latest instructions (according to CPUID) I cant be sure).

The symptoms happen on many different manufacturers motherboards, RAM types and setups.  We have successfully removed or replaced all components and the only change that seems to make a difference is CPU for a few.  CStates off in the BIOS is absolutely a guarenteed way to stabilize significantly but not fix.

I changed CPU (after trying everything else) and find it now mostly stable with CStates ON. I must be clear that my system is 100% identical, CPU #1 crashes all the time and must have CStates off, CPU #2 does not crash so often even with CStates ON.    One may argue this is a problem with my PC, a fault, but with so many people having the exact same issues I cant believe it is a defect. And with Cstates/SpeedStep so specifically (a known new part of Skylakes architecture), I remain convinced that this is something real.

Others were not so lucky, a replacement CPU did not make the situation better.  Batches from different factories as well etc etc

My new CPU has hard locked but not when IDLE like the last one (not yet anyway).  Mine can lock when under full load, video transcoding, but not more than 1 in 10 sessions. Cstates ON seems equally stable on this CPU as OFF.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

NUC6i5RYH displayport is "off" when connected to a multi port switch

I have 2 NUC6i5RYH and I want to connect them to this:

http://www.provantage.com/startech-displport6l~7STR91T1.htm

however, the NUC when connected do not detect a valid video connection and power down the signal, essentially shutting off the port.  As these NUC's confoundingly do not come with HDMI 2.0, the only way to get 4K @ 60hz is through the displayport, which is fine, but since my monitor only has 1 display port, I bought this switch, which is powered.

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done.

Thanks

Will a G3220 work on 2560x1440 at 60Hz with HDMI 1.4?

I'm currently selecting parts for an office PC I'm building. I was thinking of using a G3220 as the CPU, and a 1440p monitor. I also plan to use the integrated graphics, as I'm not going to use any applications that need a dedicated GPU. I looked up the G3220's specs, and found out that the max resolution for HDMI 1.4 is 1920x1080@60Hz, and the max resolution for DisplayPort is 2560x1600@60Hz. So in order to use a 1440Hz monitor, I need to have a motherboard that has DisplayPort. This confuses me, because my other PC runs 1440p just fine with HDMI 1.4, with an AMD R9 390.

Do I really need a motherboard with DisplayPort to run 2560x1440@60Hz with a G3320, or is HDMI 1.4 good enough? I already set my eyes on two motherboards, both have Intel H81 chipsets, but the cheaper one doesn't have a DisplayPort, only HDMI.

G3220 specifications:

Intel® Pentium® Processor G3220 (3M Cache, 3.00 GHz) Specifications

Motherboard with DisplayPort:

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5248#ov

Motherboard without DisplayPort:

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-H81M-S2H (rev. 1.0)

Please note that I'm ordering these parts in the Netherlands, and that available parts and prices may be different from the USA.

I really appreciate the help!

Wifi hotspot disconnection: freeze completely the compute stick (Windows 10)

Hello,

After, like all of you, having a painfull upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10, I noticed the terrible issue regarding wifi.

Bios is uptodate (31)

We use the stick on a TV in an open space to display dashboards. We use our laptop to share the wifi connection to the stick.

Each time we go take a break or lock down our computer, it disable the wifi sharing endpoing on host machines

Then, the compute stick completely freeze. Only the mouse respond, we can only move it.

Symptoms:

- Hotspot wifi goes down

- Webpage displayed via chrome on compute stick complains that there's no connexion

- Hotspot wifi comes back to life

- Compute stick does not reconnect to the hotspot because it's froze: infinite load on windows bar, no command respond.

Must hard reboot the stick.

We can't use ethernet, nor have a wifi hotspot that last more than 4 hours. Otherwise I wouldn't have opened this thread.

Do you have a fix for that please ?

Install older drivers over new drivers

I've got the Intel Wireless-AC 7265 wireless card, but the driver I have 18.30.0.9 , doesn't allow for hosted networks.networks. I've read that the older drivers supported this, and I have a driver that will support this but I'm unable to install it as the new drivers prevent it from installing, does anyone know how to get around this?

and when i open a game a blue screen come with error message inside "the pc ran into an error VDR-TDR-FAILURE igdkmd64.sys"..

can anyone help me to solve this problem??

[I2C] How to control start/stop I2C events ?

Hello there,

As mentioned in my other thread, I am working with an Adafruit 7-segment display. It is supported by the corresponding Arduino library, which I am adapting/rewriting in C since there is no C++ support yet in Rocket.

The library makes use of the Arduino Wire library and in doing so, controls the START and STOP events on the I2C bus using constructs like {begin, end}Transmission :

void Adafruit_LEDBackpack::writeDisplay(void) {  Wire.beginTransmission(i2c_addr);  Wire.write((uint8_t)0x00); // start at address $00  for (uint8_t i=0; i<8; i++) {  Wire.write(displaybuffer[i] & 0xFF);  Wire.write(displaybuffer[i] >> 8);  }  Wire.endTransmission();
}

Following the Rocket doc, I have been using the corresponding i2c_polling_write API (sorry, I cannot find any publicly available Rocket API via an Intel search engine query, I can only find it on the Helix App Cloud but this requires a login). It took me some time (and a logic analyzer) to figure out that it sends the START and STOP events for each transaction, which is not what my hardware expects). I am thus now using a single buffer and a single API call to do the transfer, which appear to work fine :

void bp_writeDisplay(void) {  uint8_t buf[17] = {0};  uint8_t idx = 1;  buf[0] = 0x00;  for (uint8_t i=0; i<=8; i++) {    buf[idx] = displaybuffer[i] & 0xFF;    idx++;    buf[idx] = displaybuffer[i] >> 8;    idx++;  }  i2c_polling_write(i2c, buf, sizeof (buf), i2c_addr);
}

This is however pretty tedious, as all content has to be transferred into a temporary buffer before the i2c API is called.

Is there a way to work similarly to the Wire library APIs (API for start, simple send API, API for stop)?

2016-02-01 edit: my approach definitely works since I now have the display working and the Adafruit demo code running on Rocket. I am still however interested in the answer since that would allow a quicker adaptation of Arduino libraries.

Intel (R) HD Graphics Family

Hi Guys !

I am having problem with Display Driver. My Laptop info is below:

HP Pavilion g6-1310se Notebook PC

I have tried updating windows and installed latest / oldest hp display driver many times but in vain. There is no hardware failure or dust issue because I diagnosed it completely.

I have installed installed and tried following drivers:

Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000 (9.17.10.4229)

Intel (R) HD Graphics Family (8.15.10.2559)

Intel (R) HD Graphics Family (8.15.10.2353)

But my laptop shutdown when I install / enable display driver upon starting windows 7.

When I disable / uninstall display driver, my laptop works very well and does not shutdown at all and I can play audio/ video movies, songs except games.

Please help me !

Intel DH77KC bricked with official BIOS update procedure?

Hi there,

I tried to update my BIOS on DH77KC board from the original 69 version to 110 with Express update started from Windows 7.

(KCH7710H.86A.0110.EB.EXE). After it my motherboard won't start and restarts every 2-3 seconds. I've read other users having the same issue, but many of them could recover the BIOS.

I've done this:

- remove board from chassis

- remove BIOS jumper

- remove all pheriperals, and battery for hours

- create a 2GB FAT16 USB drive with the original BIOS (.BIO file)

- move RAM modules to black slots

- stick the USB in

- ps/2 keyboard in along with display

- put battery back in, following PSU connection

- turn PSU on

The system "starts", but no sign of any activity, and does not start to read the file from the USB drive... i've tried several USB drives and ports and does nothing.

Really, really it is possible to brick the motherboard with an official downloadable BIOS upgrade with an official procedure??? Without replacement board over warranty time?

Is there any other way i can try to restore this?

Thanks for any ideas...

IPDT 3.0.0.23 includes verification of engineering samples and possible graphics bug

I just installed IPDT 3.0.0.23 and noticed that it checks for engineering samples. Some people would say that it is easy to look at the CPU itself, but that's problematic if the CPU is already installed in a system, as it often is. Checking for engineering samples is a great addition.

Also, I noticed that the graphics behavior is slightly different. Before, if a system had a discrete video card, the graphics tests were skipped, with a message explaining that the PC has a video card so the graphics tests were not run. Now the message "Intel Graphics Device Module has a configuration mismatch" appears and the color spectrum and 3D graphics tests are run. The screen rotation test is not run. Then when the test completes, the real-time messages are erased and a new, longer list of messages is displayed, including "Intel Integrated Graphics Device not detected; test skipped." Are the two graphics tests exercising the Intel on-chip graphics or the discrete video card? And what's up with the "configuration mismatch"?

In case it matters, this system is i5-2500, DH67BL, and NVIDIA 430 running W-7 64-bit, all finely aged H/W and S/W.

Windows 7 slow at "starting windows" - nuc6i5syk

Hi,

I have just installed Windows 7 Pro x64.

This is my equipment:

- NUC6i5SYK

- Samsung 950 pro 512GB NVME M2

- Ram 8x2 Kingston 2133 sodimm

- Windows 7 Pro x64

It was hard to install it, but thanks to RLM70 Re: Nuc6i5syk + Samsung 950 pro + 2 Kingston 8 GB 2133 sodimm + W7 pro  I have finally a Nuc working with W7.

After installation I imported further intel drivers (Graphics, Audio, Lan, Wifi, Bluetooth) and to make sure that I didn't loose anytying I have installed again also Usb3 drivers and Samsung 950pro drivers.

After that I have updated W7 untill today (something like 270 updates).

Everything works, but there is a quite odd thing: when I switch on the Nuc, at the step "starting windows" the writing remains freezed without the animated logo for 10-15 sec, after that the animated logo appears and  the procedure continues normally.

I know that 10-15 sec more don't change your life, but it's quite strange that a brand new machine with a windows experience index of 7,2 at that step is much slower than an old computer core 2 duo with a windows experience index of 4,7.

Is there any setting or additional drivers to import to make windows 7 Pro x64 start normally?

Thank you in advance fo the help

Intel HD 4600 crashing in windows 10

I keep getting lockups followed by a windows error reporting that that driver crashed and has recovered.

It seems to crash far, far more often when trying to play fullscreen content on the net (YouTube, Vessel, etc)

It also crashes randomly when opening the start menu. This is on a brand new activated install of Windows 10 on a system I built for myself.

High core temperatures

Hello

I have one Samsung RF511-SD3, which is equipped with one i7-2670QM processor.

The problem is: core temperatures are always higher than what it should, at least compared to the values searched.

It's around 60-65ºC while idle and go up to 95ºC when running a game. Though they are acceptable to the limit specified (100ºC), I noticed that even while using low CPU the core temperatures still raise a lot.

While searching for a solution, I found the Intel program: Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool. The result was:

As far as I know, all the recommended settings for this test were applied according to the same Intel page where the program was downloaded.

The reasons why I think it has any problem are mainly due to the idle temperature and when using low CPU and still having high temperatures.

I appreciate any help.

Edit:

Running *\Intel Corporation\Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool 64bit\CPUFreq.exe I got the following diagnostic:

CPU Frequency Test

Detected Base Clock: 100

QPI link rate Test - Not supported.

Skipping QPI link rate Test.

End Time: Thu Feb 04 12:01:55 2016

Another fact noticed is when using the laptop connected and with the battery attached: after some hour doing heavy tasks, the battery is still at 99-100% of charge, but after unplug the energy cable the computer shut down. I found out that it was some kind of imbalance among the battery cells and it happens merely due to high usage.

Galileo pinmux: how to enable all GPIO pins as input?

Hi,

I have an empty Rocket project which I have modified in an attempt to configure

to use all GPIO pins as input (save for #13, which I use as a square wave

output). I see very strange results, though, with two notable problems.

Problem #1) configuring entry 2 as FUNC_B (in) results in the UART not working

- is there a link between the UART and the arduino shield header pins?! How can

I use arduino digital pin #2 as GPIO? (I am trying to use this pin specifically

because I would like to use it as an interrupt source, and the IO mapping doc

indicates that 2 & 3 are the only two interruptable pins).

Problem #2) sending a square wave into all input pins does not show the

expected result (some pins show no input; others [5] very strange behavior!).

Details:

0 - not tested (RX)

1 - not tested (TX)

2 - okay

3 - okay

4 - does not toggle!

5 - when I provide input to this, BOTH 5 and 6 register the input!!!

6 - does not toggle!

7 - okay

8 - does not toggle!

9 - does not toggle!

10- okay

11- does not toggle!

12- okay

13- not tested (square wave output)

Clearly 4,6,8,9,11 are configured wrong or not working.

5 looks like a hardware defect.

Here is my pin mux config - please advise? Is there an example that could

demonstrate all of the pins working as inputs?

static struct pin_config mux_config[NUM_IO_PINS_USED] = {

    /* pin, selected mode    <mode A, mode B, mode C, mode D> */
